Dear Stakeholder Course Participants

I would like to officially welcome all of you to the 4th phase of the DLIST stakeholder participation course for 2011!

The fact you have registered for the course already shows that you are well aware of the importance of broad stakeholder participation in decision making processes. But further than that, I truly hope that
the course will make you take on a more active role in decision making processes.

Many of the participants hail from different sectors, fields of work or study, and interest groups. This year we also have an interesting mix of countries and therefore I have no doubt that this course will lead to interesting discussions and developments as each of you have something unique to bring to the table! During the course you will each get the chance to introduce yourselves to the rest of the group.

I hope that all your personal aims, objectives and expectations of the course will be addressed during the duration of the course and I will strive to address them as far as possible.

Some of you may already be somewhat familiar with the structure of the course. For those of you who are not, this is how we will proceed:

- To those who were not already registered DLIST users, I have signed you up on http://www.dlist-asclme.org.
- We will try to tackle one module per week. You will be able to download the material from the group resources on the menu on your right. During the course of each week we will discuss module content, address questions and analyse the case study.
- This will be done via the dedicated discussion forum which automatically goes out to all course participants. To respond, all you have to do is click reply to the email you received and the message
will go out to all the participants.
-You can also download de course outline so you can understand how the course is divided.

Correspondence and participation in discussions is integral to the course. If you have any queries on the use of the discussion forum, are still not clear on the format of the course, or any other matters
that you may not want addressed by the group as a whole - please do not hesitate to contact me personally! I will be glad to call you up
and explain.

I look forward to interacting with each of you!

Please download the material for module 1, and we will start discussing it tomorrow after you all have time to read it.

Kind Regards
Oriana
