Discussion by email or web forum

A quick note to let you know that we can now reply to DLIST Asclme discussions using email. This message was typed in the web forum, but you can simply reply directly in your email programme as we do with DLIST BCLME.

You can also create an entirely new thread of discussion - just send an email to discuss@dlist-asclme.org. Bear in mind you have to use the email adress you registered with, this is checked to make sure participants are members of DLIST - and also to stop spam flooding the list.

This functionaly has just gone live. I have tested in a closed group and fixed all the problems I could find, but am sure there will be more gremlins now that we are using it in a larger open loop. Please provide feedback if anything behaves unexpectedly, or is unclear.

A few further notes:
- Attachments are discarded for now. The next version will upload these to the web platform and send out a link in the email automagically - stops people getting 2mb emails.
- All discussions are moderated - meaning messages need to be approved by a moderator as with DLIST BCLME. The moment your email arrives, an alert is sent to one of the DLIST ASCLME moderators. This further reduces spam - and once the list is live and issues under discussion very real, it allows hot heads a little time to cool off.
- Emails are sent out in plain text, because not everyone can read fancy text formatting in their email programme - and because some folk go totally overboard. This means any bold headings, colours etc are lost after you post. Pretty standard all over the web still.
- A fair bit of refinement still required under the hood - all due for the next release.
