Zanzibar. For most visitors there is only one island with that name, and they flock to it in increasing numbers. But to its north lies Zanzibar’s second major component – Pemba. With its extraordinary marine and coastal riches, and a traditional culture that goes back many centuries, Pemba could easily attract as many tourists as ‘Zanzibar’ does. But does it really want to?
